Working together

We want everyone who works at or with Microsoft to be safe and healthy. That’s why we ask employees to be aware of any risks from the tasks they perform at Microsoft. All external staff including direct contractors and service providers are required to conduct a risk assessment before commencing work to ensure safety during their activities. This process allows work to proceed once safe procedures have been defined and all foreseeable hazards have been considered.

Safety Committee

The Safety Committee is a group of employee volunteers who work to improve health and safety in our workplace, creating a balance between our work and our work environment. The primary functions are:

Champion safety procedures and support safety communications to employees.

Ensure measures proposed to prevent work-related accidents and illnesses are implemented within the organization.

The Safety Committee is typically composed of managers and employees. Team members interested in joining the committee can contact Global OHS for more information.

The employee representative on the Safety Committee acts on behalf of the employees in matters related to cooperation with health and safety in the workplace. The member is elected for a term of two calendar years unless a different arrangement is agreed upon prior to the election. The employees representative also serves as a member of the Safety Committee.

All incidents with injuries, incidents with illnesses, occupational health and safety hazards, and near misses in the workplace must be reported.

Incidents with injuries

In case of an incident with injury during working hours or leisure time, call FenniaHoitaja - 010 503 5000.

FenniaHoitaja will make the accident report to the insurance company and book doctor’s appointment if needed.

Serious occupational accidents

Employers have a duty to immediately notify occupational safety and health authorities and the police of any occupational accidents that result in death or a serious injury. Serious injuries are injuries that are highly likely to be permanent and complicate the normal functioning of the injured individual.
